OUR FOUNDER
ASHLEY BERRY
More than a decade ago, at just 30 years old, I heard the words no one ever wants to hear: "You have metastatic breast cancer." In that moment, my life—and the lives of the people I love—changed completely. I was a young woman, a mother, suddenly navigating a complex medical world while trying to keep a sense of normalcy at home.
Throughout that season, I was consistently cared for in ways that I can only describe as grace. Needs were met often before I even had time to worry about them. A bill was covered, a ride showed up, a meal arrived, a kind word came right when I needed it most. I came to deeply believe that when you are blessed, you are called to be a blessing to others.
Out of that belief, East Texas Alliance of Hope was born.
What began as a response to my own cancer journey has grown into a broader commitment to walk alongside individuals and families facing serious health challenges, financial strain, and the everyday barriers that can make life feel impossible. Over time, I realized it is never just one person who struggles—entire families feel the impact, and they often feel invisible in the process.
Today, as a survivor of more than a decade and a mom to two amazing boys, Caiden and Landon, I carry that experience into the heart of this organization. I know what it feels like to be scared, unsure, and exhausted—and I also know how powerful it is when someone shows up and says, "You do not have to do this alone."
At East Texas Alliance of Hope, we see the whole person, not just a diagnosis or a crisis. We focus on coordinated care and patient navigation, helping people connect the dots between medical providers, community resources, and the social and financial supports that make stability possible. Our goal is not only to provide assistance when we can, but to walk with our clients, listen to their stories, and help them move from surviving toward stability and hope.
We cannot always meet every need, and I never want to pretend that we can. But we will always be honest, compassionate, and committed to doing what we can with what we have. If we are unable to provide direct assistance, we will still stand beside you—helping you look for options, make calls, explore resources, and feel seen in a system that can often feel overwhelming.
I am deeply proud of this organization, of the partnerships we have built, and of the TANGIBLE HOPE we have been able to offer in our community. Every act of support—from donors, sponsors, volunteers, and partners—helps us continue this work and reminds our neighbors that they are not forgotten.
Thank you for trusting us, for walking this journey with us, and for believing that hope should not be out of reach for anyone in East Texas.
With gratitude,
Ashley D. Berry
